Home page It was way back in the summer of 1996, when the dingy cafe at 28 Sütiste street, with its threadbare wall to wall carpeting and plastic tables was a hangout for local old gaffers.There they would sit behind their jiggers and pickles. The old gaffers didn´t even have a chance too see what´s going on outside, since the windows were covered with heavy iron grating. And they weren´t even able to breath properly, since the air was thick with foul smoke from their cheap Priima cigarettes.
The whole scene was quite cheerless. Everyone was convinced that it would be complely pointless to even try to estabish anything saloonish in such an out of the bush location. But we, the owners of Rancho Saloon, have always seen prospects where no prospects are to be seen. And we love the challenge of doing something which no one has yet obtained. After all, back then, in the year 1996, there were no real pubs in Tallinn. And that´s why we wanted to create a real pub with a true personality.
So, we figured, what the heck, went to the country and demolished an old shed. We had no concrete plans, since a project like this develops as it elaborates. We ended up devoting so much energy to this project, thet we didn´t even have time to make a menu. And then we suddenly realised that opening day was within reach. Fourtunatley, we had very good friends who at the last minute , were able to help us create a menu. The result was, that the opening was a smashing success. All our friends came to give us, not only their moral support, but also all kinds of unique curios for decorating the saloon.
Like all new projects Rancho Saloon has also had to undergo various labor paints. But in time we have forgotten all the bad and remembered only the good.
Althought to tell you the thruth we cannot forget our one night of true horror, when our creation almost burned down...
But this is all in the past, and today we can truly enjoy the fruits of our work.
